Aldis Berzins started playing volleyball for his University where he spent three years from 1975 to 1978. In those three years, he was a leader of four straight Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) championships. He was a part of a team of the American Men’s National Team of 1984. This team won the gold medal playing against Karch Kiraly in the 1984 Summer Olympics.
Aldis Berzins was honored with different awards and medals including ‘Ohio State Varsity O Hall of Fame’ in 2002, ‘MIVA Player of the Year in 1977 and 1978’, ‘Volleyball Magazine All-American’ in 1978, etc. Aldis Berzins is serving as a coach for the Special Olympics. Prior to this, he coached for Stevenson University. He was appointed there on Oct 6, 2016.
