Alex Walsh immediately aided the Cavaliers. In her first ACCs, she placed 4th in the 100 breasts (58.28) and 3rd in the 200 back (1:51.12). her 200, 400, and 800 medley relay victories. Walsh was a multi-champion in her first NCAAs. A winner of the 800 free relays, she also helped the UVA women capture their first-ever overall team title. 5th in the 200 free (1:44.12) and 200 breasts (2:05.86). 200 and 400 free relays: UVA 2nd. Jr Pan Pac team: Walsh won the 200 IM. Her 200 back and 20 IM results won her a spot in the Pan American Games. Walsh swam the 100 breast (1:10.93), 200 back (2:11.34), and 200 IM prelims for Team USA. She won the 200 IM finals in 2:12.06. Her 4100 medley B relay (55.72) placed third behind the USA and Australia A teams. Her time of 2:05.87 at the 2019 Southern Premiere in Alex’s hometown of Nashville, TN, stunned the crowd. Walsh 23.64 split in the 200 medley relay kicked off the new 15-18 NAG. Walsh also won the 4×50 and 4×100 free relays. The 50 free (22.24) saw Walsh finish behind Gretchen Walsh. Walsh swam to three Pan Am golds in 2019. On day two, Walsh won her first major international gold, winning the 200 back in 2:08.30, ahead of American Isabelle Stadden. She won a gold medal in the 4200 free relays in 1:58.27. This time it was Meghan Small who beat Walsh 2:11.24 to 2:11.36 in the 200 IM on day 5.
Her 200 IM time was also a new 17-18 National Age Group Record. Walsh finished 209.01 seconds behind winner Melanie Margalis.
