In April 2015, Booker decided to forgo his remaining college eligibility and declared for the draft. He was selected by the Phoenix Suns as the 13th overall pick in the draft in June 2015. He showed his mettle in his first seven Summer League games, averaging over 15 points per game. He made his NBA debut against the Dallas Mavericks two days before his 19th birthday, becoming the first player in NBA history to debut at 18 years old with at least one year of college basketball experience.

In January 2016, Booker scored a season-high 21 points against the Sacramento Kings. He scored 32 points against the Indiana Pacers to become the third-youngest player in NBA history and the youngest Suns player to score more than 30 points in a game. In March, he scored 34 points against the Miami Heat, achieving yet another career milestone and his career-best performance to date. He played in his fifth 30-point game of the season against the Minnesota Timberwolves that same month. By the end of the season, Booker was part of another 30-point game and finished his rookie season with 1,048 total points. He became the fourth-youngest player in NBA history to score 1,000 points in his first season and averaged 13.8 points per game. His impressive rookie season earned praise from basketball legends like Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade, and he finished fourth in the Rookie of the Year race in 2016.

    In November 2016, Booker scored a career-high 38 points against the New Orleans Pelicans, and a few days later, he surpassed it by scoring 39 points against the Los Angeles Lakers. He became the first Suns player in 28 years to score at least 38 points in two consecutive games. In January 2017, Booker scored 39 points against both the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs, becoming the youngest player in NBA history to score 39 points in two consecutive games. In February 2017, he scored 31 points against the Milwaukee Bucks and became the youngest player in NBA history to score at least 20 points in 16 consecutive games. Booker finished the season with an average of 22.1 points per game. In October 2017, Booker scored 34 points against the Portland Trail Blazers, making it his 21st career game with 30 or more points and becoming the third player in NBA history to achieve this feat. In a March 2018 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, he scored 39 points, becoming the third-youngest player in NBA history to reach 4,000 career points.
