    Jaya Ahsan is one of the most famous and trending Actress in whole world right now. Jaya Ahsan was born on July 1, 1972 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

    She is the daughter of freedom fighter A. S. Maswood and Rehana Maswood and was born and raised in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She has a younger sister and brother. She completed Diploma in Rabindra Sangeet and Indian Classical Music.

    She started her career as an employee in a company, but she was interested in building her career in music and drawing. Although, he father wanted her to be an employee. She was the most passionate about art and music which pursue her to open a music school later on.

    She first appeared on television when she performed in the teledrama Panchami. She modeled for a calendar which caught the eye of Afzal Hossain, who later offered her work on a promotional advertisement for the soft drink Coca-Cola. Afterwards, she left modeling and continued with her studies. She joined the newspaper Bhorer Kagoj, a national daily, which rekindled her interest in the media. After a brief stint at a children’s school, she returned to modelling. Thereafter, she worked in Giasuddin Selim’s Shongshoy. Besides media, she also practices crafting and painting, which she demonstrated in art house productions like Anechy Shurjer Hash.

    She came to the spotlight when she performed a teledrama called ‘Panchami’. While working on the drama, she met one of the foremost actors in Bangladesh, Golam Mustafa. Mustafa asked her to stay in media and insisted that she would do better in future if she did.

    She enabled to catch the eye of Afzal Hossain by modeling in a calendar and got a chance to perform in a soft drink advertisement as well as she had to convince her father for that. Then she left modeling career and continued her studies and joined a newspaper company, Bhorer Kagoj, a renowned national daily of that time. There she met with Tajin Ahmed who started acting slightly and Joya found her interest back on media again. She acted in the blockbuster movie Gurrellia with famous Dhallywood actor Ferdous Ahmed, got huge admiration and won National Film Award for terrific performance in this movie.

    She made a special appearance in the film Bachelor (2004) directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. Her first film was Nurul Alam Atique’s debut film Dubshatar: In Too Deep (2010). The film did not do well at the box office, but her performance was praised by the critics. In the same year, she acted in a thriller titled Firey Esho Behula (2010), directed by Tanim Noor.

    In 2017, she acted in Bishorjan alongside Abir Chatterjee and Kaushik Ganguly directed by Kaushik Ganguly himself, for which she received many awards including Filmfare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, BFJA Awards etc. for her performance portraying the character of Padma. In the same year, Jaya was honoured with the ABP Ananda Sera Bangali for achievement in acting. Her other two releases that year are Akram Khan’s Khacha: The Cage and Manoj Michigan’s Ami Joy Chatterjee.

    In 2018, Jaya performed in a courtroom drama Ek Je Chhilo Raja based on the historic Bhawal case directed by Srijit Mukjerji in a star cast including Jisshu Sengupta, Aparna Sen, Anjan Dutt, Rudranil Ghosh and others. She was also seen in Crisscross alongside Mimi Chakraborty, Nusrat Jahan and others directed by Birsa Dasgupta. Debi was released on 19 October 2018 based on Humayun Ahmed’s novel of the same name. It is directed by Anam Biswas, starring Chanchal Chowdhury, Jaya Ahsan and Sabnam Faria in lead roles. The film is produced by Jaya Ahsan, as her first production from her production house ‘C Te Cinema’. She received her seventh Meril Prothom Alo Awards 2018 for Best Film Actress for her performance in this film.

    In 2019, her first release was Kaushik Ganguly’s Bijoya, sequel to Bishorjan. Then she was seen in Arnab Paul’s debut Brishty Tomakey Dilam, a psychological thriller based on split personality disorder. She received the prestigious ‘Dashobhuja Bangali 2019’ award from the St. Xavier’s College Calcutta Alumni Association. Next she did Konttho which released on 10 May directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee starring Shiboprosad Mukherjee himself, Paoli Dam where Jaya plays the role of a speech therapist.

    In Bangladesh, her next film will be Beauty Circus, directed by Mahmud Didar and starring Tauquir Ahmed, Ferdous Ahmed and others. Here she will be seen as a circus performer struggling to save the circus amidst all odds of the society.

    She won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actress three times for her performance in the films Guerrilla (2011), Chorabali (2012) and Zero Degree (2015) ,6 Meril Prothom Alo Awards ,and many other local and international awards for her other films. She was the brand ambassador for USAID (US Agency for International Development) to help women and children.

    She met with co-actor Faisal who was a famous model, and they fell in love with one another. Soon they were married in May 14, 1998, which helped Joya to continue in media more freely and attentively.
